It occurs to me that I never got round to posting anything about the creation of Al's Christmas present last year. Which is a bit remiss of me, because it was a fair bit of effort and resulted in a rather nice objet for our coffee table, for visitors to coo over Plus... it's accessible on the web, albeit via a not great interface. But hit the fullscreen icon in the bottom right-hand corner and it's pretty good. And ignore the stupid prices on it - I didn't pay anything like that much and I'm not trying to flog copies either... I wrote some stuff about my employer a year ago, around the time we were making much of our role in delivering London 2012. And now we're making noise about what we do generally, because we're focused on growing the company and recruitment is a challenge. Particularly, recruiting women into a profession that has never hugely appealed, in a country that barely acknowledges engineering as a profession. Worthless celebrity being a much more valid career choice.
The nice thing about this is that we've spent a few quid making some nice films about what Atkins represents. I sat with the guys who were engaged to produce some of this material a couple of weeks ago - and I think they've done rather a good job. This is the UK variant - there's also one to appeal to the international market, with an oddly neutral transatlantic accent.
Does it make me proud? Well, yes. It does, actually. |
