This is the modern equivalent. I suppose I must be tolerant.
In 1973, at the tender ages of six and four, my sister and I compiled a scrapbook in tribute to the then Royal Wedding of Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips, mostly cut from the Sunday Times Full Colour Supplement. It was perhaps the most exciting thing to have occurred in our lives to date, not least because the early seventies were dominated by spam fritters and candelight.
This is the modern equivalent. I suppose I must be tolerant. I'm now getting used to it. The Bresnan-led carnage of last night was an absolute joy to watch and I no longer get that empty feeling in my stomach when the England openers walk out to chase a total that should be considered trivial.
It all makes for an extremely happy timmy. Everything in my world is good whilst the England cricket team are winning test-matches. |
