Girls on bikes

11/4/2012

Both of them.  Which is fantastic - suddenly they're pinging around the site in Pagham together with endless energy.  A walk up to Pagham Spit takes on a whole new dimension and gives Hatty an opportunity for her first foray off-road.  Unfortunately, the all-steel, toddler-proof construction of her hand-me-down steed isn't entirely suited to rough terrain.  This didn't stop her refusing all offers of help, insisting on dragging her first lump of transport independence through the shingle BY MYSELF.

I am going to get her something lighter as soon as she's thrown off the early wobbles... children will never really fall in love with cycling if you hamper their efforts with crappy, cheap, mass-produced tat.  Every cyclist know the joy of quality engineering: We owe our children the same experience.

It was a beautiful afternoon, if a tad windy (gusting to 40+mph I reckon). The Spit in Spring is covered in beautiful, vibrant-yellow Broom, the sun was mid-afternoon low in the sky and a photographer finding himself without a camera there would curse. So I'm glad I had mine.
